ABSTRACT

Following the development of cities and use of personal vehicles in internal urban transportation, the role of pedestrians has been gradually downplayed in cities and urban spaces and spatial quality has been reduced in public city areas, open urban spaces, and sidewalks. These are areas that play pivotal role as a platform and origin in upgrading contact levels, social communications and interactions between citizens. The main aim of this study is to pay adequate attention to the importance and undeniable effects of sidewalks on the alteration use of adjacent trading units from a static position to more dynamic and economic mode. In the present study, 17th Shahrivar Sidewalk, between Imam Hossein (PBUH) Plaza and Shohada Plaza was investigated.
